“I think romantic suspense is unique in the genres because there’s a lot going on,” Hope said. “You’ve got your suspense plot, so you’ve got to create a believable crime, believable dangers that the characters are in. [You’ve got to] put enough red herrings in there so people don’t figure out who the villain is. … Then you have your romance plot [between] your hero and heroine … and create a believable romance. And then with inspirational romantic suspense, you’ve got their spiritual arc.”
